Last night a couple of my girlfriends and I went out to dinner at Upper West, a somewhat new restaurant in Santa Monica. My sister and her fiancee had talked about it awhile back, and they have great taste in food/places to dine out, so I knew it would be good. And it did not disappoint. None of us were that hungry so we skipped appetizers and went straight for entrees. We also got a great bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma to share. For entrees, we got lobster gnocchi with sweet corn and chorizo bolognese,, quinoa and kale salad with watermelon and heirloom tomatoes, and filet mignon with roasted garlic-smoked bacon whipped potatoes with red onion-jalapeno relish. YUM. Needless to say, we ate those quickly and were lucky if we snuck a bite of each others. Now not only was the food good at Upper West but the decor and ambience was great. It is very well designed, with a movie playing on one of the walls behind diners, and amusing quotes written along the remaining walls. I definitely recommend this place to others!
