Chelan

This past Wednesday and Thursday I was in Lake Chelan, Washington. Lake Chelan is a 3 hour drive from Seattle, and a pretty drive at that. We left Bellevue around 9am on Wednesday, got out to beautiful Chelan, checked out our gorgeous house for the next two days (my friend’s grandparents have a house that is TO DIE FOR – right on the lake), and back on the road. We went into town to Lakeview Burger. I had a crispy ranch bacon sandwich with fries with tartar. NOM. So delicious. Then we went to winery #1…of 5! Tsillian Winery was our first stop. Great wine, and very generous pours. $5 for 5 tasting samples. The grounds are gorgeous also. I would recommend touring around. Next stop was Karma Vineyard. Since it was 100 degrees outside, we did a quick tasting outside. Great champagne flight! Then we met the owner, and she let us do a private tour of the caves where they hold wedding receptions, and after we got to go up the hill to her private residence, and see the outdoor amphitheatre where the wedding ceremonies take place. Absolutely gorgeous! Best view of the lake you can imagine! Next we went to Chelan Estate Winery. Tami is the best! Very friendly. Great pinot noir. Benson Vineyard was next. Amazing grounds and the view is spectacular. Not the best service though. Got a bottle of the rose there. Our last stop was the best stop. Hard Row to Hoe Vineyard. The name is true to form. There used to be a brothel across the lake and the miners would row across to see the girls. With wine names such as Shameless Hussy and Naughti Boy, what was not to like at this place. Beautiful property, and lots to see and do, including ladder golf. After developing a significant buzz we headed back to the house to make dinner for the grandparents. Barbeque chicken, corn, and an amazing salad whipped up by the grandma. Talk about a perfect day. Top it off with a sunset dip in the lake, a gorgeous fiery sunset, and s’mores…does it get any better??
