I spent the past four days in NYC, and had the best time. I got in Thursday afternoon, headed to meet up with my friend Cassie (whom I met in Madrid, but is from my home state of Washington), and we made moves to make happy hour on the Lower East Side. We went to CienFuegos, this cute little hidden bar, where they serve huge punch bowls, and at happy hour the punch is half off. After Cien, we ventured down the street to Katz’ Delicatessen for an infamous Reuben sandwich and a When Harry Met Sally moment. We split a reuben, and holy shit it was fantastic! We bar crawled our way down the same street, and then called it a relatively early night, because in the morning we had SoulCycle! If you haven’t done SoulCycle you are missing out. If I could afford it, and it was in Nash, I’d do it every week for sure. Also they played my fave song from Frank Ocean’s new album, called Nikes, so I was even happier. After Soul and a shower, we headed to Brooklyn. I’ve never been, and it was def worth the hype. We walked across the bridge, which is so pretty. We then moseyed over to Williamsburg, got enticed by the sign saying “i heart balls,” and ventured into the Meatball Shop for the most delicious pork meatballs with parmesan cream sauce. Next stop was the cutest little oyster shack esque restaurant where we got a bottle of prosecco and a margarita pizza to share. Loved it. Rooftop bar back in Manhattan was the next stop. Pod 39 is the name of the place, and it was awesome. Best watermelon margarita I’ve ever had. The rest of my trip was a mix of a lot of bars on Friday night, one of the best brunches I’ve ever had (at Jack’s Wife Freda) in Nolita, watching my team get their ass beat by Bama at a hole in the wall bar in Harlem, walking the Highline, finally seeing the boats in Central Park, and a few more fun moments. Made for quite the weekend. Now I’m back in Nash and broker than ever 😦
