Parents Weekend

Just finished up an amazing weekend with my parents in NOLA. Be warned: eating was the main activity this weekend. And walking all over the city to try and compensate for all the eating 🙂 Mom and Dad got in from Seattle Thursday evening, and we went straight to the French Quarter for debris po’ boys, jambalaya and crawfish etoufee from Mother’s restaurant. After dinner, we headed down the street to Manning’s (Archie Manning’s bar, yes Peyton’s dad) to watch the Seahawks beat the Cardinals on a massive 100inch TV in their outdoor courtyard. The next day, my parents explored while I worked, and then we did happy hour #1 at Effervescence, a champagne bar in the Quarter (with an awesome courtyard), and happy hour #2 at Tchoup Yard (my fave margarita spot), and they have cornhole! After drinks, we headed to dinner at La Petite Grocery on Magazine in Uptown. Blue crab beignets and fried green tomatoes to start, and turtle bolognese and rabbit for entrees. YUM! My mom and I hit up Frenchmen Street Friday night for some live music and purple drank. Saturday morning we walked all over Uptown, and ended at District Donuts for some yum nitro cold brew and nutella and chocolate glazed donuts. After watching my 8th grade boys play in the flag football championship, we wandered all over Magazine Street, stopping in at Stein’s Deli for some amazing and fresh reuben sandwiches. Saturday night we dined at NOLA (one of Emeril’s restaurants – alligator BAO and cornbread and collard greens – to die for), and wandered in and out of countless boutiques and shops in the Quarter. We watched a performance in Jackson Square, saw a few live bands in the streets, and attempted to find some street art I’ve been searching for. Sunday morning we had an early swamp tour outside of town, so we were up and at em early, stopped for an iced coffee and delicious ham and cheese croissant at my fave bakery La Boulangerie on Magazine, and we were off. Our last two stops were the annual Po’ Boy Fest on Oak Street (with every type of po’ boy imaginable), and then Parleux Beer Lab for some refreshing beers and hilarious rounds of Cards Against Humanity and Uno. Epic weekend.
